Englands Hopes Of Reaching The Semi Finals Of The T20 World Cup Were Dealt A Major Blow On Friday As They Were Stunned By Scotland By Six Wickets In A Rain Hit Match In Barbados

Scotland stun England with six-wicket win in rain-hit T20 World Cup clash

England's hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup were dealt a major blow on Friday as they were stunned by Scotland by six wickets in a rain-hit match in Barbados.

Chasing a revised target of 109 off 60 balls after rain had interrupted Scotland's innings, England were bowled out for 101 in 19.4 overs.

Scotland's win, their first over England in a T20 international, keeps their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive. They will now face the winner of Saturday's match between New Zealand and Ireland in their final group game on Tuesday.

England, who have now lost two of their three group games, will need to beat Australia in their final match on Saturday to have any chance of reaching the semi-finals.

Scotland got off to a flying start in their chase, with George Munsey and Kyle Coetzer putting on 55 for the first wicket. Munsey was eventually dismissed for 29, but Coetzer went on to make 42 not out as Scotland reached their target with nine balls to spare.

England's bowlers struggled to make an impact, with only Sam Curran taking more than one wicket. Curran finished with figures of 2-23, but he was unable to prevent Scotland from claiming a famous victory.
