The Day Daddy Ran Into The Black Smoke Honoring Those Who Gave Their Lives After 911

The Day Daddy Ran Into The Black Smoke: Honoring Those Who Gave Their Lives After 9/11

Remembering The Heroes Of 9/11

On September 11, 2001, the world watched in horror as the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were attacked by terrorists. Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks, including 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and 55 military personnel.

In the aftermath of the attacks, many stories emerged of heroism and sacrifice. One such story is that of Stephen Siller, a firefighter with the New York City Fire Department. When Siller heard about the attacks, he immediately reported to his firehouse in Brooklyn. However, by the time he arrived, the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel, the only way to Manhattan from Brooklyn, had been closed.

Undeterred, Siller strapped on his 60 pounds of gear and ran through the tunnel on foot. He arrived at the World Trade Center just as the towers collapsed. Siller ran into the South Tower and was never seen again.

Firefighters, Law Enforcement Officers, And Military Personnel

Siller's story is just one of many examples of the heroism and sacrifice that was displayed by first responders on 9/11. These brave men and women risked their own lives to save others. We owe them a debt of gratitude that we can never repay.

Honoring The Victims Of 9/11

In the years since 9/11, we have come together as a nation to honor the victims of the attacks. We have built memorials, established scholarship funds, and created new programs to support the families of those who were killed.

We must never forget the sacrifices that were made on that fateful day. We must continue to honor the victims and their families, and we must work to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again.
