Arsenal have moved a step closer to signing Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino after agreeing a deal in principle with the Spanish club.
The fee is worth up to £32.67m, with an initial fee of £28.43m and a further £4.24m in add-ons.
Merino, 21, is a Spain international and has been a key player for Real Sociedad in recent seasons.
He is expected to undergo a medical at Arsenal in the coming days and could make his debut against Manchester City on August 12.
